8
Expectations or… “What ifs?”
9
What if I don’t have my supplies? It is important that you are present and prepared for class time. This is a “Doing” class and it is impossible to “Do” without supplies. You must have them here every day for credit. Do not expect others to provide for you. Do not ask to borrow! Be Responsible. I will provide handouts and a notebook for you but you must keep track of them. If you misplace a handout or paper you may print an extra one from the portal.
10
What if I am absent? It is your responsibility to check my blog on the district website whenever you miss class. (dstevenson) Read the information for the missed day. Assignments will be posted online. You may print off any worksheets necessary and watch any power points from that site or from the portal. Then if you have any questions, please see me. Please write “absent” on the top of any assignments done from an excused absence so that you will receive full credit for them. Make-up work from absences must be done within 2 weeks from the date of the absence unless other arrangements have been made.
11
What if I am “spacey” and turn in my work late? Regular late assignments not due to absence will be accepted for 75% credit the first week late, 50% credit after that until the final due date for the quarter.
12
What if I forget to pay my $15.00 lab fee? There is a $15.00 lab fee for consumable foods that must be paid in order to participate in the labs. Book work will be given to those not participating in the labs to make up for the lab points.
13
What if I don’t like my grade on the tests I take? Tests may be retaken for a better grade as many times as you would like during the EO hour. You will always receive the highest grade.
14
What if I am tardy a lot or miss a lot of classes? ATTENDANCE CREDIT - I will follow the school policy for administrative/attendance credit. I have a “million hours” to do before I can graduate!
15
What if I want to use my cell phone or other electronic devices? Cell phones are very disruptive to the class atmosphere and may present privacy and honesty issues. Therefore, I do not allow students to use cell phones in my class. If a student has a cell phone out it will be taken to the administration and you may retrieve it from them. Electronic games and music players are also not allowed during class without permission. The same policy will apply.
16
What if I want to earn an A? Grades will be given based on points from tests, class work, homework, and extra credit. The break down for grades is as follows: 100% and above =A+, 99-94%=A, 93-90%=A-, 89-87%=B+, 86-83%=B, 82- 80%=B-, 79-75%=C+, 74-70%=C, 69-65%= C- 64- 60%= D+, 59-54%=D, 53-50% D-, 49% and below =F. You may check your grade online. It will be upgraded automatically as new assignments are added. Midterm reports will also be sent out.
17
What if I want to do extra credit? There will be a limit to the number of extra credit points that can be earned. You may earn 10% of your grade in extra credit. If we have 1000 points at the end of the term you may do up to 100 points in extra credit. Extra credit must be turned in no later than the final due date for the term.
18
Extra credit points can be earned by: 1. FCCLA member attending an FCCLA activity. 2. Extra cooking at home with a note signed by parent. (10 points each time you cook) List the date, what was cooked and if it was cleaned up afterwards. 3. Reading an article that pertains to foods and nutrition and writing a summary report on it. 4. Any extra assignments given by the teacher. 5. Reading and following the directions on tests.

Disrespect shown to teacher or other students. “Is it Kind? Is it True? And Is it Necessary?” 2. Use of vulgarity or profanity. 3.
