Some Basic Facts on Italy For 3 rd graders Deanna Cascio

2 Lets start with the Flag… The Italian Flag consists of three different colors… green, white and red. The green stands for hope, the red for faith and the white for charity.

3 Location Italy is located in the southern part of Europe. It’s west coast is the Mediterranean Sea and the east coast is the Adriatic. The mainland is a Peninsula and Italy also includes the two large islands of Sicily and Sardinia.

4 Some Yummy Food of Italy There are many different kinds of food that Italy is known for. One very popular dish is pasta. This can be lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, or fettuccini Alfredo.

6 Some Recipes Do you like sweets? A famous bakery good that comes from Italy is called a Cannoli. This is a pastry like desert that is an Italian favorite. You can make this at home with this easy to make recipe.recipe.

7 Music of Italy Music of Italy is very important if you were to visit Italy, the opera would be one thing you shouldn’t miss! Not all music is opera like music, some famous Italian Singers may include Frank Sinatra (left) or Dean Martin. Frank Sinatra

8 Language of Italy In Italy the main language that is spoken is Italian. It is spoken throughout most of the country, some other languages that can be spoken may include French or even German in some parts. Try practicing some basic Italian words… words…

9 Climate The climate in Italy is similar to ours here. The winter is moderate, colder near the Alps, and warmer near the coast. The summer is very hot and dry, and cooler near the Alps. Click on here to see the weather in different parts of Italy.here

10 Famous Attractions The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a very great sight to see! It is 56 meters high and inclined in realtion to the height by 4 meters. It was finished in the 14 th century by Giovanni de Simone.

11 Attractions… Mount Vesuvius is another must see, attraction. Easily accessible from Naples, Pompeii was the thriving resort town for wealthy Romans buried under ash and mud during the devastating eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79 AD. The ruins provide a fascinating insight into how the ancient Romans lived and include impressive temples and a forum.
