2. Definition of Title I Title I provides federal funding to schools to help students who are low achieving or at most risk of falling behind. Title I is allocated to schools based on the percentage of student receiving free/reduced lunch. Schools with a percentage of at least 40% are eligible for a schoolwide program.

3. Sheldon Academy operates a Title I School-wide Program.

4. School-wide means: The school uses Title I funds to upgrade the entire educational program of the school. Title I funds are used to serve all children in order to raise academic achievement. Title I funds will be used to provide additional assistance to all students who experience difficulties in meeting the State’s performance targets.

5. To be a “School-wide” School: The school must have a free/reduced lunch count of at least 40%. The school must collect and analyze data that effects student achievement. The school must develop a comprehensive site plan and annually review the effectiveness of the plan.

8. Student Needs Generally, student success as measured on the TPRI assessment in Spring of 2014, is at or above the desired 90% goal of the campus. As plans were made for the 2014-2015 school year, it appeared that additional attention to improve both instruction and student achievement in all areas was warranted to increase overall performance.

9. Our Plans Additional emphasis for ELLs in English acquisition Monitor and intensify the progress of Letter Identification and Letter Sound mastery for all students. Closely monitor the literacy skills for all students through a Balanced Literacy process.

Focus Goals for 2014-2015 Campus Goal 1: Sheldon Academy students will demonstrate increased academic performance in Reading and Math to 90% on all district CBA’s, 90% of Kindergarteners reading independently at a Level C and 95% “developed” score in Graphophonemic Knowledge on TPRI. Campus Goal 2: Sheldon Academy will improve attendance for all students and staff through prevention and intervention strategies. Campus Goal 3: Sheldon Academy will motivate students to remain in school and become life-long learners. Campus Goal 4: Sheldon Academy will increase parent involvement Campus Goal 5: Sheldon Academy will provide a safe and positive learning environment Campus Goal 6: Sheldon Academy will recruit and maintain a highly qualified staff who are life-long learners and dedicated professionals.

Proficiency Levels for 2014-2015 95% of all Kindergarten students will be Developed on TPRI in Graphophonemic Knowledge as evidenced by End of Year TPRI assessment. 90% of all Kindergarten students will be Developed on TPRI in Phonemic Awareness categories 1 and 2 as evidenced by End of Year TPRI assessment. 90% of all Kindergarten students will master a reading level of C as evidenced by End of Year assessment.

16. Parent Involvement Plan The Sheldon ISD Parent Involvement Plan is included in the Sheldon Early Childhood Campus Improvement Plan, which will be updated for this year on our website.

17. Parent’s Right to Know – Non-Highly Qualified Teachers Schools are required to notify parents if their child has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher that is not highly qualified.

Right to Request Meetings Upon the request of parents, the school must provide opportunities for regular meetings for parents to formulate suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions about the education of their children.
