Grade 4 trip to Euro Space Centre Wednesday 8 th -Friday 10 th June 2016

Aims of the trip Opportunity to experience something new and interesting Develop independence Enrich and extend learning Prepare for Grade 5 trip

Where? Euro Space Centre, Transinne, Belgium Journey by coach Journey time will be approximately 90 minutes Depart early on Wednesday 8 th June Return afternoon of Friday 10 th June

What will we do? Astronaut camp Take part in a space shuttle mission with all of the actual procedures involved Learn to build and launch your own rocket Update and refine your knowledge of the Sun and its planets Work on space simulators Take part in a space rescue mission Learn about the effects, being in space has on humans. Cinema night Disco night

Activities

Accommodation Each room can host 6-10 people. Girls and boys in separate rooms Bunk-beds Toilet, shower and sinks in each room Need to bring sleeping bag, pillow and bed sheet.

No mobile phones No electronic games or toys Camera is allowed but just a camera- not part of a phone. No ipods or e-reading devices Reading books are allowed- no magazines or comics No more than €20 in spending money in a named envelope. Personal items and money

The trip will cost between €220-€250 Payment will be made via your School Life Account in June Please don’t give any money to the teachers Cost of the trip and payment

Clothing and luggage A list of suggested items is provided Please provide your child with a toiletries bag and water bottle A suitable bag or case for the trip- not too big

Information from Mrs. Williams 1. Start having sleepovers now so that they can get used to being away from home. 2. If you think your kid may get homesick, surprise them with special notes for each night to open up while they are away. 3. When talking about the trip, make sure to talk about it in a positive light. Don't let them know if you are anxious, instead encourage them by letting them know that they will have a good time. 4. If they are worried about the trip, please encourage students/parents to contact me.

ISL permission form- 25 th March Monday 18 th April- Space Camp Health Form Wednesday 1 st June- Copies of Passport and Sécurité Sociale cards Monday 6 th June- Medicines to class teachers with Administration of Medication form. ALL FORMS WILL GO ON THE GRADE 4 WIKI Key dates for Paperwork
