4. HB 2398 HAS REMOVED TEC SECTION 25.094 FAILURE TO ATTEND SCHOOL This means that a student who is absent from school for 10 or more days or parts of days within a six-month period cannot be referred to court for criminal prosecution of the offense of failure to attend school.

5. COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE age 6 to 17 18 are required to attend school truant conduct applies to students older than 12 and younger than 19 “tardies” generally are not considered absences for purposes of compulsory attendance enforcement.

6. Administrators, special program staff, teachers, and attendance personnel must be aware of their individual responsibilities and must work together to assemble required documentation as early as possible.

19. CCISD REGULATION FEC Attendance: Attendance for Credit/Final Grade The District may initiate withdrawal of a student for nonattendance under the following conditions: 1. The student has been absent 20 consecutive school days. 2. Repeated efforts by the attendance officer and/or principal to locate the student have been unsuccessful.

22. The truancy prevention measures (TPMs) must be implemented by a truancy prevention facilitator, a juvenile case manager, a special services case manager, or a designated existing employee of the school district.

23. TRUANCY PREVENTION MEASURES (TPM) School districts must provide at least one of the following truancy prevention measures Truancy “Behavior Plan” Referral for services School- based community service

24. “TRUANCY BEHAVIOR PLAN” Must include: A specific description of the behavior required or prohibited Effective dates of the plan Positive/Negative consequences for additional absences
