6. PROBLEM ANALYSIS The pump that sends the cooling water to conveyor may trip at any time due to various causes. The pump failure in the plant is considered as single point failure which causes the whole plant to shut off. The loading of sulphur pellets in the truck is done manually. The position of the truck under the SILO is watched and then the valve is opened by the person manually. This manual operation is made automatic. A9-Reliability enchancement of pelletiser unit

7. FEASIBLE SOLUTION Solid state devices are replaced by PLC which increases reliability and reduces cost. The failure of pump is avoided by redunctancy.An alternative pump is used.When the operating pump faces a failure the control is transferred to another pump automatically.
