Believed this because of Christian teachings that stated God put Earth in the center of the universe.

5. Copernicus and Heliocentric Theory
Nicolaus Copernicus
Moon revolves around the earth
Planets revolve around the sun
Therefore, the SUN is the center of the universe

7. Johannes Kepler
Usage of mathematics to further prove sun was the center of the universe.
Planetary orbit was elliptical
Small planets orbit around larger ones
EX: Earth orbits around the sun

8. Galileo Study of astronomy with the usage of a telescope.
Studied the planets with telescope

Moon’s had a rougher surface

9. Galileo gets in trouble!
Galileo defends the Heliocentric Theory in Rome.

10. Francis Bacon
Known for the Experimental Method, which is defined as using an experiment to draw conclusions.
SCIENTIFIC METHOD!!!!

11. Isaac Newton Laws on gravity and motion
Further proved that the Heliocentric Theory was valid
Planets revolve around sun
Newton also proved the shape of the Earth as being spherical
