1 The process of development of the new specialisation Preparation of required documents by a development team in cooperation with external stakeholders Approval given by various LUT committees Compliance with the LUT’s Internal Education Quality Assurance System and well known good practices in Poland Resolution of the Faculty council Typical contents of courses – selected example (*) Classification: K – knowledge, S – skills, SC – social competences C onclusions The new interdisciplinary specialisation as an initiative to adjust the University education offer to the needs of the labour market An opportunity for students to gain new competencies, enhance their language skills, IT skills and to broaden their knowledge about environmental engineering aspects Promotion and development of the LUT Abstract The main aim of the MADEM project (Mobile Application Development for Environmental Monitoring), created with the support of EEA Grants and Norway Grants, was development of a new Master’s degree programme. It was also a response to the needs of the labour market where a growing interest in the role of ICT and the importance of environmental issues are observed.
