Sin Entered the World

Adam and Eve Created in the image of God (Gen 1:27, 9:6) Formed of the dust of the ground and the breath of life (Gen 2:7) Naked and unashamed (Gen 2:25) Given dominion over other creatures (Gen 1:28) Placed in the Garden to tend and keep it (Gen 2:15) They did not know good and evil (Gen 3:22)

The Serpent A beast of the field (Gen 3:1) The Most cunning/subtle/crafty (Gen 3:1) Had the power of speech (Gen 3:1) Could reason (Gen 3:1-5) Knew of God’s command (Gen 3:1)

The Reasoning of the Serpent Reasoning was purely on an animal level The Serpent had no relationship with God, and no laws of God were over him it’s morality was devoid of scripture Led him to conclusions that were opposite the truth

The Mind of Flesh vs. The Mind of Spirit “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.”Romans 8:5

The Source of Temptation “Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. Consequence of Sin Their eyes were opened ! To make one wise? Not in the sense Eve imagined. The eyes of Adam and Eve were now full of themselves.

The Mind of Flesh vs. The Mind of Spirit “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.” Romans 8:5 “because the fleshly mind is enmity against God…” Romans 8:7

Cain and Abel “ABEL” Name means: “Vanity” Occupation: Keeper of the sheep Keeper = to tend as a shepherd, to pasture He learned to lead the sheep with love and care His eyes were ever upwards seeking lush pastures for them

Cain and Abel “CAIN” Name means: Gain or acquired Occupation: tiller of the ground Tiller = To serve as a bond servant or slave He became enslaved to his labour His eyes were constantly centred on the earth

Cain and Abel ABEL Means: Vanity Keeper of the sheep Keeper = to tend as a shepherd, to pasture He learned to lead the sheep with love & care His eyes were ever upwards CAIN Means: Gain or acquired Tiller of the ground Tiller = to serve as a bondservant or slave He became enslaved to his labour His eyes were centered on the earth

Cain and Abel as Types Cain: type of Israel They hated Jesus with- out cause They killed Jesus bec- ause of jealousy Taken out of the land To wonder among the nations Abel: type of Christ Christ the good shepherd Hated without cause Desire was to God Christ was also killed by his brethren

A Divine Principle It is not enough that man wants to worship God, but that man must worship God in accordance to how God has instructed him. “God is spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23
