Governance & Finance Successes: Further Policies and Procedures produced, including e.g. Expenses regulations, Whistleblowers Financial systems, procedures and annual accounts drawn up Constitution review Payment of coaches, officials and volunteers system agreed and brought into line with the legal framework £500 deficit against a budgeted £7k deficit Challenges: Embedding the process Recruitment of a Treasurer and other volunteers Budget planning in the future Payment of coaches / volunteers

Competition & Events -chools Games Finals CompetitionSummary Senior Regional League10 teams competed – all play each other once – central venue Regional League – under 14’s8 teams (2 from each county) compete with the top two going forward to the National Club Finals Regional League – under 16’s8 teams (2 from each county) compete with the top two going forward to National Club Finals Under 19 TournamentOpen to all clubs across the region and invitation – 5 teams entered Under 12 Festival15 teams entered – all counties represented.

Competition & Events -chools Games Finals CompetitionSummary National Schools, Regional Round - Under 14/16/19’s 24 schools across the three age groups compete at Wickersley Schools & Sports College Regional League Playoff’s (for place in the 2015/16 league) York City / Brigg Blades / Shipley – will compete in the Regional league 2015/16 Northern League (collective with North-East / North West) Playoff’s (for place in the 2015/16 league) Winners of the Yorkshire regional league Hi-Tech seeking place for the 2015/16 Win the playoff’s with 100% record England Netball Premier 3 Playoff’s (for place in the 2015/16 league Sheffield Stormers team from Yorkshire competing for a place. Unfortunately do not progress through playoff’s and will remain in Northern League

Competition & Events CompetitionSummary Y7 Schools Games The aim of the day to provide an additional layer of competition for those achieving at their county School Games and to be able to name the Year 7 Champions of Yorkshire. Champions this year were THE GATEWAYS SCHOOL from West Yorkshire High 5 Festival The following top two teams who qualified from their County round took part: Humber – Swanland and Sproatley North Yorkshire – Aspin and Hutton South Yorkshire – Silkstone and Shawlands West Yorkshire – Harden and Kippax Greenfield ASPIN PRIMARY SCHOOL from North Yorkshire won the competition.

Competition Successes Established competitions within the region continue to be a success with year on year improvements/results with new teams continually coming through at both junior and senior level School/College from Yorkshire finished in top 5 placings at National School Finals in each age group…..with Greenhead winners at under 19’s Hi-Tech secure place in Northern league Competition for 2015/16 season

Competition Challenges Venue availability – both in relation to availability but also cost perspective Level of competition available to ensure clubs/teams are able to participate on a National platform (currently only 1 team in England Netball Premier League Competition) Development of junior clubs across all counties to offer quality coaching and competition opportunity to support player / club development (link to challenge above) Volunteers – sourcing and recruiting of New Volunteers to support competition events

Competition Future Priorities Clearly identified pathways for accessing competition for both Schools and Clubs ‘Thinking Outside the Box’ – Competition event are an opportunity to ‘offer’ more……need to think about the Customer Experience Development of Senior Competition – increase participation to support clubs in readiness for Netball Premier League Competition Schools Competition – e.g Under 13/15’s Look to generate income – through sponsorship / marketing & merchandising / other ‘selling’ opportunities ………Social media opportunities

Officiating Successes: Table officials supported the Yorkshire Jets 12 x C award umpires across the region 11x B Award Umpires across region 3 umpires attended MTGL & Working towards A award 2 new tutors accredited in the region, Sarah Watts NY & Rachael Cole WY with Emma Lee also WY awaiting sign off Challenges: Providing umpires at correct level for Regional competition needs Need for more mentors Conversion rates continues to be an issue both locally and nationally Identifying talent to move up the officiating pathway Future Priorities: Reaccredit our existing assesses and identify New assessors Train new table officials Increase number of New B award umpires

Coaching Successes: 1st Regional Coaching Conference - 60 coaches Specialist Regional Workshops x 2 - 'Defending' - 32 coaches New 'Talent Coach Development Programme', supported by WYS - 6 coaches Pilot 'Step into Leading & Coaching Netball' workshop held in WY - 8 coaches Upskilled 66 x Level 1, 31 x level 2 as well as converting 12 x old EN level 2 coaches to the UKCC level 2 qualification 5 x UKCC Level 1’s (120 attendees) - 66 coaches qualified (23 x H, 18 x WY, 10 x SY, 15 x NY) 2 x UKCC Level 2 (34 attendees) - 31 coaches qualified (10 x H, 14 x WY, 4 x SY, 3 x NY) UKCC Level2 conversion - 12 coaches ( x H, 4 x WY, 4 x NY) Challenges: Identifying and recruiting Coach Working Group volunteers Calendar - National, Regional, County Communication with other organisations An effective means of reaching coaches to identify their individual needs

Performance A tremendous year with many challenges overcome. Marvellous successes and the programme is developing year on year: Successfully running 1 x Regional Performance Academy (RPA) (U19) and 2 x Regional Academies (RA) (U17). Also all Counties successfully running county and satellite academies RA Screening moved to end of June with 42 athletes selected Athletes moved into RPA. In addition some RA athletes invited to some RPA sessions Tri Regional Match Days held with NE and NW. 2 x Versatility days held with RA and our County Academies

Performance Successes: A year7/8 tri regional day held with NW and NE, - athletes from our county/satellite academies chosen to represent Yorkshire following a training session with our PPC. Matches against a young Scotland representative squad Successfully working with the Regional Officiating Group enabling development of umpires and testing. From September 15 consolidation of venues with training on Mondays Bradford College and Wednesdays EIS together with some weekends From September 15 strength and conditioning (s/c) in place at all training sessions with professional deliverers

Performance Successes: The National Netball Performance League (NPFL) (u17) – 2 squads took part with the 1 st squad finishing in 2nd place to North West - a great achievement Netball Performance League (NPL U19) – many athletes from RPA (1 RA) in training and many taking the court to represent Yorkshire Jets. A great season Finished 3 rd in the National League 2 nd in the end of season Tournament, losing to Manchester Thunder

Performance Successes: National success for a number of Yorkshire Athletes Brie Grierson and Lydia Walker selected for England U19 Tour to Botswana. Lydia selected for tour to Australia (with Brie reserve) Netball Europe - Imogen Allison and Rosie Harris selected for England U17 for Netball Europe – Champions 2015 Netball Europe – Lydia Walker selected for England U21 for Netball Europe. Stop press – Champions Oct 15 England National Academy Screening (previously called England U17/19) in March. Selected: - Imogen Allison, Rosie Harris, Claudia Heath, Alexandra (Lexi) Shipley and Hannah Gorman to Potential. Subsequently ALL 5 have been selected to England training for Netball Europe U17/19 Ebony Greatorex and Lucy Lister members of England “Nets” (Indoor Netball Association) U18 who won the World cup. Performance Challenges: Facilities! A never ending challenge. Ideally 1 central venue of the appropriate standard and provision of support. Have managed to move to 2 venues from 5. Athlete management and their priorities Strength & Conditioning provision from outside professionals Agreeing an appropriate budget and the management of costs to budget! The demands of the programme on the volunteers and the athletes.

Performance Future Priorities: Delivering to new EN contract and necessary planning Working with the Regional Coaching group to develop current/future performance support/coaches. Restructure of the Performance Working Group (PWG) Sustainability of the programme after 2017 – when EN resubmit planning to Sport England Facility provision including strength & conditioning Finance Implementing the new expenses policy (Link with NPL/Super League (SL) /Clubs etc for athlete management

Communication & Marketing Successes: New group formation and lead identified Work started on new Regional website Quarterly newsletter Regional representation with EN through working parties/forums Have a communication structure through WG’s and County Chairs Forum Social media (Facebook & Twitter) Challenges: Review of structure – Does it meet our needs? Social media training Need to ensure direct communication to a wider membership Future: Re-launch of new website in the New Year
