The Field Education experience is the signature pedagogy of the social work profession This experience will help to prepare you for getting a social work position after graduation Will help you become a professional social worker Will help you learn how to use supervision Will help you learn how to work with clients Mrs. Russo—Director of Field Education Kevin—Field Education Liaison Supervisor at agency—Field Education Instructor Field Education Experience

You will be expected to complete 500 field hours: 250 hours in the fall and 250 in the spring Fall: 235 hours in the field, 15 hours in class Spring: 235 hours in the field, 15 hours in class Expected to come to every field education seminar class, just like you will be expected to go to your agency to complete your hours Expected to participate in a minimum of 1 hour of supervision per week Expected to dress professionally and act in a professional and ethical manner Expected to treat your field instructor, staff, and clients with respect Will be evaluated twice each semester: midterm and final evaluations Keep track of hours at field education site Will write a summary, process recording, or advocacy letter each week, obtain journal articles, and discuss ethical dilemmas. All students have to register or renew their NASW membership—Fee: $48.00 per year All students must have malpractice insurance through the NASW assurance program or other source before they are able to work with clients—make sure you get $1,000,000-- $3,000,000, Fee: $54.50 If you don not register with the NASW and/or get malpractice insurance you will not be able to start your field education If you have difficulty obtaining malpractice insurance through NASW please contact me there are other options NASW/Malpractice

Please fill out the online application and email the application, Part A and B to Mrs. Russo, also print one signed copy and give to Mrs. Russo: http://www.angelo.edu/dept/psychology_sociology/student_internship _forms.php http://www.angelo.edu/dept/psychology_sociology/student_internship _forms.php Please rank from 1 to 5 which agencies you would like to complete your field education hours at on your application Please make sure to list any legal issues/problems, if you do not and it comes out through a background check you could be dismissed from field education or from the program We will be scheduling a Field Education Interview Day in May, where all the agencies will be available for you to interview with them, you have to interview with at least 5 agencies Each of you will be contacted in June once the placements have been decided, check your emails Field Education Application
