5  Visioning is…  Four steps of visioning:  Brainstorming  Write it out  Tell others  Setting realistic goals  Encourage employees:  Make own vision  Happier employees  Farm (Weinzweig, 2010)

6  Organizational stories:  History  Make sense of changes  Training contract:  Management’s responsibility  Trainee’s responsibility (Weinzweig & Saganaw, 2012)

9  Measure success’ & failure’s against vision:  Survey questions:  Do my opinions seem to count?  In the past seven days have I received praise for my work?  Does my supervisor seem to care about me as a person?  Turnover rate:  Restaurant industry vs. Zingerman’s  Reason for leaving (Weinzweig, 2010)

10  Mismatched rewards:  Asking to treat each other kindly  Asking for great service & giving bonus’ on sales  Zingerman’s follows vision:  Reward people for living up to vision  Intrinsic rewards:  Part of an environmentally friendly business  Visioning: meeting personal goals  Extrinsic rewards:  Veggies  Hand written notes (Weinzweig, 2010)
