The Chief Fire Officers’ Association The professional voice of the UK fire and rescue service 2006 Parliamentary Select Committee reports lack of progress in FRS on equality & diversity Creation of new E&D Strategic Board within CLG and development of new National Strategy (draft to be available for consultation by June 2007) Higher profile for the E&D agenda with report of Government Equalities Commission and the creation of a new Commission for Equalities and Human Rights Some structural cultural change evident in FRS but continued slow progress recruiting from minorities and under represented groups Context

The Chief Fire Officers’ Association The professional voice of the UK fire and rescue service CFOA E&D professionals group have published a work plan to work to Annual E&D professional seminar set for 17 th /18 th September 2007 Workshop to produce single equality scheme template arranged for 19 th /20 th June 2007 at CFOA HQ Address project nearing completion. ‘Training for Trainers’ currently being delivered for firefighter training and management module CFOA is a partner in new community cohesion project bid to EU (Lead CFO Brian Tregunna) Publication of new guidance on working with diabetes following CFOA/DiabetesUK survey
