Introduction Pipeline safety awareness meetings in a presentation setting are nearing the end of their lifecycle and usefulness. Pipeline and utility operators are looking for better ways to engage and educate excavators to reduce 3 rd party damages. Excavators are looking for a better forum to receive the information. Understanding this need for change Texas 811, The Danielle Dawn Smalley Foundation and Enertech are collaborating on a new initiative: “EDUCATION THROUGH DEMONSTRATION”

Enertech www.enertech.com Innovation. Service. Experience. These are the driving forces behind the services, programs and products Enertech provides. Enertech specializes in API RP 1162, CFR 192 and CFR 195 public awareness, damage prevention and integrity management programs for natural gas distribution, gas transmission, gas gathering and hazardous liquid pipeline companies.

Texas811 www.texas811.org A Damage Prevention Community. From the members who support and guide us, to the excavators who depend on our services to work safely and efficiently; to the regulators - local and national - who provide the necessary legal framework; to our dedicated employees, Texas811 has evolved into a total damage prevention organization.

The Smalley Foundation www.SmalleyFnd.org Our Mission: To increase safety and awareness for those who live, work and play near our nation's oil and gas sites and pipelines through empowering the general public, training Emergency Officials, and partnering with industry.

Features Outreach to excavator and emergency response community Communication of safety information in the environment excavators work in Education catered to stakeholder learning style Interaction with each stakeholder participating in the demonstration Program brings training to life with the combination of a Mock Line Strike and Emergency Response in one event Effectiveness measurement reporting Baseline RP 1162 Messaging and Documentation

Benefits Not just a presentation, a profound experience Dramatic demonstration on what could happen if a line strike would occur Dramatic demonstration on what Emergency Officials will do if a line strike did occur Operators have more one-on-one time pre and post demonstration Proper baseline and supplemental documentation

Purpose Education Through Demonstration. This new initiative provides the excavators with the necessary education through a mock line strike demonstration. This demonstration covers a complete excavation lifecycle.

The Strategy Excavation Site Making the One-Call Line Locating Proper Excavation Procedures Striking the Line Emergency/ Operator Response Lessons Learned

Education Through Demonstration Designed to transform the excavators experiences, improve reach and create the critical connections to prevent a pipeline incident.

The forum is set on an excavation site and representatives from each stakeholder group speak on each topic during the excavation lifecycle. Education Through Demonstration

The forum offers customizable scenarios that provide real life results. Education Through Demonstration

This program provides a coordinated response and Unified Command training between Emergency Responders and Operators. Education Through Demonstration
