Neil Armstrong and “Buzz” Aldrin Neil Armstrong was an American astronaut and the first person to walk on the Moon. He was also an aerospace engineer, naval aviator, test pilot, and university professor. He was born August 5, 1930 and died August 25, 2012.He was married to Janet Shearon (1956-1994) and then Carol Knight (1994-2012).He had 3 children there names were Mark Armstrong, Eric Armstrong, and Karen Armstrong. Edwin Eugene Aldrin Jr., known as Buzz Aldrin, is an American engineer and former astronaut, and the second person to walk on the Moon. He was also a fighter pilot before he became a astronaut. He was born January 20,1930 and lived to be 85.

Famous People Martin L. King Jr. died in the 60s. Elvis focused mostly on films in all of the 60s. Marilyn Monroe died in 1962. Sidney Poitier in 1964 he became the first african american to win a academy award.

Disasters A US nuclear-powered submarine failed to surface 220 miles east of Boston, Mass. The disaster claimed 129 lives. Three fuel tanks exploded when a jetliner, struck by lightning, crashed near Elkton, Maryland. 81 people died.

Basketball The 2 teams in the 1966 NCAA Basketball Final were Kentucky and Texas Western. Kentucky's players were all white and them and their school were proud inheritors of a tradition of great white basketball. They were expected to win. The 5 starters for T.W. were black- the first all black starting five in NCAA Finals history. Kentucky was favored and were thought to of been more disciplined whereas Texas Western's players were going to be too flashy and would fall apart under pressure. WRONG!!! T.W. did a better job of passing, defense, and shooting. They won 72 to 65. A movie about that game and year was made. It was called Glory Road. The days of segregation in basketball were numbered.
