20 The CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) Certification Forum has published a 2005 version of their "Testing Facility Authorization process" which relies heavily on having its Candidate Testing Facilities accredited by accreditation bodies recognized under the ILAC MRA General Electric has begun to accept laboratories accredited by A2LA by virtue of A2LA's signatory status within the ILAC MRA. 21 No need for costly re-calibration thanks to the ILAC MRA Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Company Ltd. (DSME) successfully won a US$400 million contract. KOLAS’ participation in the ILAC MRA was of huge benefit to DSME, as there was no need for duplication of calibration tests. DSME estimates that if their calibration reports had not been accepted, an additional US$10 million would have been budgeted for the project, reducing the international competitiveness of DSME. The Korean manufacturer views its laboratory’s accreditation status, and KOLAS’ participation in the ILAC MRA, as offering clear and measurable benefits to its profitability. For example..

23 Suggested ideas for raising awareness of IA Day with Regulators Link your website to the International Accreditation Day area of the ILAC site Use the poster in your offices. Send to regulators. Send an e-version of the poster to regulators, clients and stakeholders Encourage customers and stakeholders to publish the poster and link on their website Publish the press release in your newsletter or in the trade press. Send to regulators. Organise activities in your organisation to promote the awareness of accreditation such as a company event. Invite regulators…..or even better, ask if they would like to host an event!
