Why Read? Reading practice improves vocabulary, grammar, spelling, punctuation, comprehension, and reading skills. Students struggling in school almost always have low reading skills. Sixty minutes of reading per day is needed for improvement. What is the difference between good readers and poor readers? The top 5% of readers read 144 times more than the bottom 5% of readers. Thus, the way to improve reading skills is to read more. Reading is a learned skill; not something you are born with. Improvement occurs through practice. If you read 20 minutes every day, you can improve your vocabulary by 80,000 words. Reading practice is the key to success!
