LOCATING NATURAL RESOURCES BY ALI A
2
DEFINITIONS Extract: To remove natural resources from the natural environment, such as oil from oil reserves
3
LOCATING NATURAL RESOURCES AND THE PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT Natural resources are located all over the world. Some countries have more natural resources than others, and some natural resources exist in only a few places Understanding the physical environment is important in understanding natural resources. For example, in chapter 1 we learned about plate tectonics and their role in creating and changing landforms. Plate tectonics also determine the location of oil and gas reservoirs. The movement of the plates also helps to free the oil and gas over millions of years. The physical environment determines the location of other kinds of natural resources as well. For example, climate determines what kinds of forests grow in different locations. So Canada has a climate that is particularly suitable for boreal forests, which means Canada is rich in timber as a natural resources.

USING NATURAL RESOURCES TO MEET NEEDS AND WANTS People use natural resources in a variety of ways and for a variety of purposes; for example natural resources are used for food, to build shelters, to make clothes, etc. A single natural resource can be used in many ways, like only trees can provide lumber for homes, make paper, and logs for fuel Global products People are considering electronics as a necessity. If you ever look at where a product such as a computer Is made in one place when in fact they are made from natural resources all over the world. Throwing away a computer also effects other parts of the world. Many electronic devices end up in landfills around the world that creates waste that harms the envirnonment.

USING NATURAL RESOURCES FOR LEISURE When talking about natural resources and how they are used, we don’t think about relaxation and recreation. People camp in forests, canoe on lakes and rivers, etc. Tourism also has an impact on natural resources. The impact of tourism

USING NATURAL RESOURCES FOR LEISURE When we talk about how natural resources are used, we do not usually think about relaxation and recreation. But people often use natural resources for those reasons. People camp in forests, canoe on lakes and river, and picnic in parks. Tourism also has an impact on Natural resources which I will be talking about.
7
THE IMPACT OF TOURISM Tourism is a huge global industry that generates billions of dollars in revenue and provides millions of jobs. It is the main industry of countries. Tourism has many benefits for travellers. But tourism still has negative aspects.
8
WHAT TOURISTS NEED TOURISTS need a place to stay, food to eat, and activity for them to do. These often come at a cost to the natural environment.Building resorts often takes away the homes of wildlife animals. It also reduces the amount of food that can be grown in an area.
9
WHAT COMPANIES ARE REALIZING More And More travel tourism companies recognize that their customers care about the environments. The ecotourism industry is growing up to 10-15% a year.Ecotourism enables people to enjoy Natural resources in a way that reduces the environmental impact of travel.
