1) Internationalisation policy Regulation policy of the internationalisation doesn‘t exist in a special form, Mentioned in the Statute of the UNSA and Higher Education Law of the Sarajevo Canton, No official Regulation for Mobility Strengthening of Internationalisation in B&H Higher Education

2) & 3) Internationalisation strategy Mission: Our mission is the strengthening the internationalization of the University of Sarajevo, introduction this institution as a modern European University. Values: - tradition of international relations, - culture of openness for the international students and member of staff from the region, and beyond, - promotion of the values of the international relations among students and members of staff at the University of Sarajevo, - promotion of the variety of study programmes Vision: Our vision is strengthening our leadership in the areas of international relations. With over 100 agreements on cooperation with universities around the globe and membership in important international organizations, International Relations Office expects to intensify mobility and make it possible for our students and members of staff to demonstrate their qualities on an international scale and to improve themselves through such contacts. 4) Responsibility for international relations The “internationalisation body“ structure: – Rector – Vice-Rector for International Relations – Central International Relations office – Vice-Deans/ International Relations coordinators – Study program chairman – Staff – Students Strengthening of Internationalisation in B&H Higher Education

5) Financing of international activities Most of the international activities are financed by international programs such as Erasmus Mundus (lump sum), Tempus grants (Print and Equipment), etc. A limited amount from the UNSA budget is used for international activities Mostly printing of promo material Strengthening of Internationalisation in B&H Higher Education

6) Central International Relations Office - activities Orientation week (Welcome day, Language school, Buddy network, ESN, Campus tour, administrative and academic information, field trips, etc) Scholarship Fair (so far 6, dissemination of information of mobility programs) Info days (at the Rectorate, at the Faculties and Academies, Institutes) Media promotion (TV, Radio, Print, Web, Outdoor and Indoor – fixed and portable media) Erasmus Mundus Promotion Tour Bosnia and Herzegovina Daily contacts (email, phone, one-to-one meetings) communication, administration procedure and establishment of cooperation in variety of international programs (Erasmus+, Tempus, CEEPUS, Mevlana, Erasmus Mundus, bilateral) based on the given interest from and to UNSA, Promotional material (brochures, folders, posters, roll ups, web sites, social networks, billboards) How to fill in Erasmus Mundus application? (info days about application procedure, helping applicants with needed information) International days (inviting incoming and former outgoing students, vice-deans and coordinators for networking and exchange of experiences) Questionnaires (in order to perform better and provide qualitative academic and administrative information) Reports (for every partner and coordinator, explaining activities and sustainability possibilities) We are representing UNSA at the consortium meetings, its offer and activities Preparing the study programmes offer for our university, for partner universities Collecting needed academic information such as duration of academic year, exams, deadlines, markings, ECTS, etc....and many more... 7) Central International Relations Office - Incoming Accommodation : University of Sarajevo offers two student dorms – IRO provides contact information and students communicate with them (based on experience, students choose private accommodation often), Visa and residence permit – EU citizens do not require visa, however, if staying longer than 3 months, they need to regulate residence permit (long and very bureocratic procedure – explained at http://www.erasmus- unsa.ba/residence-permit/)http://www.erasmus- unsa.ba/residence-permit/ Orientation programe – same as majority of Europe‘s universities, we prepare OP that includes activites such as Welcome day, Language school, Buddy network, Campus tour, administrative and academic information, field trips, etc. This is done in cooperation with Erasmus Student Network, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian language school is organized for exchnage students (first two weeks of intensive course, followed with 2 classes per week during Winter semester) Support the administration procedure (changes of LA/WP, health issues, accommodation issues, problems at host institutions, etc), Strengthening of Internationalisation in B&H Higher Education

10) Central International Relations Office – Study programmes (Language of instruction) Full English taught classes at: – Academy of Music (PhD) – School of Economics and Business (BA, MA, PhD) – Center for Interdisciplinary Studies (ERMA programme) – Faculty of Philosophy – English language and literature (BA, MA, PhD) – Faculty of Nat. Sciences and Math. – (PhD) – Faculty of Medicine (BA+MA) Majority of institutions do not offer full taught English classes, however some academic activities can be provided in English (exams, paper work, mentorship, research, etc). Internationalisation requires more English taught classes which will influence incoming mobility. More focus on MA and PhD in English language. 11) Summer/Winter schools UNSA organizes 1-2 summer/winter schools during a single Academic year Strengthening of Internationalisation in B&H Higher Education

12) Recognition UNSA member institution mostly recognizes credits obtained abroad. Problems in recognition: – Students choose subjects at host institution whose curricula don‘t match the curricula at home institutions, – Difference in ECTS (UNSA subject = 5 ECTS, Host inst. subject : 3 ECTS), – “Traditional“ professors who don‘t think that their subject is well taught abroad.
