1. Grounding Grounding = connects material directly to the ground, or earth. The Earth is huge!! It can accept or give up many electrons without any significant change in its charge.

2. The symbol for ground is: Grounding prevents serious accidents! The third prong on plugs is connected to the ground.

3. Conductors, Insulators and In-Between Conductor: materials that allow charges to move freely e.g. Aluminum, copper, iron

4. Insulator: materials that do NOT allow charges to move freely e.g. cotton, wood, rubber

5. In-Between: materials that allow charges to move LESS freely than conductors and MORE freely than insulators e.g. Carbon, human body, salt water
