2 Church is the body of the saved (I Cor. 12:12-31) – The church functions properly when all members are doing their part – When we join ourselves we do it voluntarily and then are under obligation to live rightly in this present world – We are under commitment to help each other go to Heaven

3 Church Discipline Discipline is chastisement inflicted by way of correction, or training by way of suffering Correction or chastisement or punishment for the sake of training Control gained by enforcing obedience or order

4 Church Discipline We must teach and understand the Bible’s teaching of discipline so that we will be ready to put into practice God’s will when the occasion arises.

20 Practical Steps in Discipline Pray for the fallen one (I John 5:16) Try to convert him (James 5:19-20) Restore him if possible (Gal. 6:1) Admonish him (I Thess 5:14) As a last resort, if he will not repent, withdraw from him (2 Thess. 3:6) In which case it is the duty of the church as a whole to support such action (I Cor. 5:9-13)

21 Practical Steps in Discipline Before proceeding, make sure your actions and the collective actions of the church as a whole are out of love and kindness and that all is done scripturally, consistently, impartially, constantly and wisely. But love for God demands you act. Love for your sinful brother also demands action (Gal. 6:1). It is akin to the love that prompts a parent to discipline a child.
