Tidal Volume Breathe normally a couple of times. Take a normal breath and exhale a normal amount of air into the balloon. Measure the balloon’s diameter. Repeat. You need 3 trials total.

Expiratory Reserve Breathe normally a few times. Exhale normally. Then before inhaling again, force any air left in your lungs into the balloon. Measure the balloon’s diameter. Repeat. You need 3 trials total.

Analysis Using the formulas for a sphere, calculate the volume of air for your tidal volume and your expiratory reserve.

Conclusion PARAGRAPH to include: Explain your data – how do your tidal volume and vital capacity compare? Describe any sources of error related to volume measurements. After paragraph: List the steps of Inhalation List the steps of exhalation
