SLIDE 2 UPCOMING CHANGES AEMO is introducing national forecasting which will result in transparency for all stakeholders. We have listened to your feedback and will be making changes to our planning reports to better reflect stakeholder’s needs. Part of our ongoing commitment to meaningful stakeholder engagement.

SLIDE 3 NATIONAL FORECASTING AEMO uses electricity and gas demand forecasts for: Market Operation (NEM, DWGM, STTM). o Within one year out, operational tools used (e.g. new DFS). o This project looks at forecasts out one year and more. National Transmission Planning (NTNDP). Assessing the adequacy of supplies (ESOO, GSOO). Victorian Infrastructure Planning (VAPR). AEMO revenue fee setting. Provision of information to stakeholders.

SLIDE 4 NATIONAL FORECASTING Existing forecasts currently used are being: Developed across different organisations for different purposes (with different definitions of demand). Produced using different input assumptions, approaches and methodologies (unclear). Published in multiple documents or electronic files, with very little information on the above two points.

SLIDE 6 TIMELY AND RELEVANT INFORMATION By midway through 2012 we will electronically publish demand forecasts for electricity. Future plans to do the same for Gas.

SLIDE 7 REVIEW OF PLANNING REPORTS Understanding what our stakeholders want from the suite of information we produce. How we present the information in the most timely and effective way – electronic? printed reports? Stakeholder feedback is essential.
