The Let's Play Project was a model demonstration project funded by the US Department of Education, Early Education Programs for Children with Disabilities*. Assistive technology services provided through this project have provided families with children with disabilities with access to a variety of assistive devices and play materials as well as strategies to help families put play back into the forefront of their lives. What is the “Let’s Play Project”? * #H024B50051

What is the nature of the technology or web site? The Let's Play! Projects look to provide families with ways to play through the use of assistive technology. These projects provide ideas and strategies to promote play through better access to play materials, and use assistive technology to give the children this critical access. Typical solutions revolve around "low tech" assistive technology. By building on what the child can do, and by creating interactive play environments, families can reclaim play as a critical component of childhood!Let's Play! Projects

What are some good things and some negative aspects of the website or technology? Advantages There is a variety of online resources and a collection of one-page play idea sheets to promote playful interactions in babies with disabilities, age 0-3. Categories include Special Play Materials, Creating Play Environments and Positioning for Play. There are also lending libraries that offer a successful solution to providing assistive technology supports to families in Early Intervention Programs. Disadvantages Most of the information I have found states that this project was limited to children ages 0-3.
