29th DURING THE YEAR Cycle B The offertory by Marcel Olm evokes an attitude of service

Standards on the Church are ongoing SERMON on the CHURCH 2nd PART 2- Servants of all (Sun 29) 3- “To understand it” with the eyes of FAITH (Sun 30) On the way to Jerusalem (after Monastery of Kosiva, last Sunday) there is a museum of the "Good Samaritan" (in memory of the parable) which contains archaeological remains of the environment. Today is a reminder of the last stretch of the way of Jesus, before entering Jericho (Gospel of next Sunday)

Ancient Byzantine church on the road to Jerusalem through the Desert of Judah Today the way of Jesus invites SERVICE

Mk 10:35-45 James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came up to him and said to him, "Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you." And he said to them, "What do you want me to do for you?" And they said to him, "Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory." Museum

The apostles (the Church) want honors, despite seeing that the Teacher decided to go toward the Cross As Church of Jesus, are we sincerely ashamed of this inconsistency? Byzantine Cross

Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?" And they said to him, "We are able."

To enter the Church of Jesus, we must drink the “cup” Drinking the cup, we show that we are believers, “because the foolishness of God is wiser than men” (1 Cor 1:25) Church entrance

And Jesus said to them, "The cup that I drink you will drink, and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized, 40 but to sit at my right hand or at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared."

Drinking our own chalice gives no privileges The privilege is that in the darkest hours, we may drink the cup with Jesus Mosaic with cups

And when the ten heard it, they began to be indignant at James and John. And Jesus called them to him and said to them, "You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.

The leaders of nations need to be admired by everyone They oppress the smaller underfoot to stay in power Large mosaics

But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all.

Do we serve? Or do we look from the gate? Jesus wants that in his Church we are all SERVANTS Building complex

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

“As He does it, so must we” (Jn 13:15) On his way towards Jerusalem, Jesus is the Good Samaritan who picks up the wounded of the margins of the road, and gives them his LIFE Way to Jericho Do not click

Lord, grant us to be a CHURCH that BENDS down, to place itself to the SERVICE of all
