5 Timeline Application Available : February 8 th Grant Workshops: February 18/24/25| March 10/22 Application Deadline: May 2 Principal Signature: May 6 Notification of Award: June 6 (Year-Round, Modified Calendar) July 6 (Traditional Calendar) Fund Deposit: Before the first day of school. Recognition: Stars of Education!

6 Classroom Teacher Instructional Support Teacher Assistant Media Specialist Intervention Coordinator Counselor School Psychologist Social Worker Eligibility ***Principals and Assistant Principals are not eligible.***

7 Grant Awards Categories Up to $1,000 for an individual applicant. –Impact a single classroom and a single group of students –May address a single area of curriculum or have interdisciplinary implications Up to $3,000 for a professional learning team –Impacts multiple classrooms and many students (grade level, content area, etc.) –May impact school culture –May include professional development for the team

8 General Directions Download application from WakeEd website. Fill in form fields with requested information. Upload application and attachments to WakeEd website. Notify WCPSS Office of Grants that you are submitting a grant. Form available on the intranet. NO reference to you, your school, or any other identifying information. Proposal Development

9 Section Headers: Give focus to that portion of the proposal Total points with breakdown beside each element Word requirements Proposal Development Project Description (20 points) Purpose, Vision 2020, Methodology Implementation (25 points) Population, Strategies, 4C’s Student Achievement and Evaluation (30 points) SMART Goals, Data, Data Collection

10 Proposal Development Project Extension (15 points) Sustainability, Reach, Presentation Budget (10 points) Timeline (5 points) Additional Attachments Answer all elements within each section for the opportunity for maximum points.

11 Rubric and Scoring Rubric is aligned to each section and question Score ranges from 5-1 Key words for level 5 Up to 3 readers per grant application

12 Tips for Successful Grants Follow instructions for the grant application EXACTLY! Do not include your name, your school’s name, or any other identifying information in the proposal: e.g., names of teachers, maps, mascots, clubs. Have a non-educator read your grant. Avoid jargon and acronyms, as grant scorers are educators and non-educators. Meet DEADLINES.
