Health “Absence of any disease or impairment” (Sartorius, 2006). “A state that allows the individual to cope with the demands of daily life” (Sartorius, 2006). “A state of balance, an equilibrium, that an individual has established within himself, and between himself and his social and physical environment” (Sartorius, 2006).

Health Promotion “Activities that protect good health and take people beyond their present level of wellness” (Friberg & Creasia, 2016, p. 272).

Disease Prevention “Derived from the clinical model of health and puts emphasis on avoiding, deprivation, or restraint” (Friberg & Creasia, 2016, p. 273).

Case Study Leading up to the disease: Behavior Genetics Environment Risk Factors: Tobacco High Cholesterol High blood pressure Obesity Inactivity Prevention of coronary atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease *Leading cause of death for men and women accounting for 33.6% of all deaths in 2007 (Ades & Gaalema, 2012).

Case Study Showed improvement in certain people ADHD Rural smokers College students Schizophrenics Showed improvement Weight loss Enhanced the amount of exercise Cardiac rehab patient’s showed a decrease in cardiac and overall mortality. (Adels & Gaalema, 2012)
