Drafting ▪ Writer organizes information into sentences and paragraphs. ▪ Don’t think about word count, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. ▪ “Rough Draft” ▪ Putting it ALL together!
7
Revising ▪ Sometimes summed up with the A.R.R.R. (Adding, Rearranging, Removing, Replacing) ▪ Reworking ▪ This is NOT editing! ▪ Questions to consider: – What else does the reader need to know? – Does the information flow well? – Does the information fit? – Would more vivid details help bring your piece to life? – Do you need to look for stronger examples and quotations to support your argument?
8
Editing ▪ Questions to consider: – Have you used the same word too many times in one sentence or paragraph? – Are any of your sentences hard to understand? – Which words could you cut to make a sentence stronger? – Are your sentences grammatically correct – Is everything spelled correctly? – Have you used punctuation marks correctly? ▪ Correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc. ▪ Do NOT depend on spell checker! ▪ Proofreading symbols
10
Publishing ▪ Last step in the writing process. ▪ Final Copy! ▪ “Shared Copy” ▪ Ex: Posting on a blog, Facebook post, Published book, etc.
