Prerequisite A thing that is required as a prior condition for something else to happen or exist. Example: Before you can take Culinary Arts you have to take Culinary Foundations

Block Class Multiple hour classes Ie: 2 or 3 periods long

Career Pathway Are jobs, industry and occupation types that are similar to each other and in the same career cluster

4 year plan A plan outlining the high school courses you will take formulated referencing the diploma type you are pursuing, the career you are interested in, and your own personal interests. This is important to do as a freshman so you are prepared for college or a career after high school.

Elective Classes you choose to take. Ideally these classes will relate to your career goals and provide you with background knowledge and an opportunity to see if the career is a good fit.

Core Class Classes required for the diploma type you are trying to obtain. Core 40 or Academic Honors 8 English, 6 Math, 6 Science, 4 Social Studies...

Career And technical Education CTE - a term applied to schools that specialize in the skilled trades, applied sciences, modern technologies, and career preparation. EXAMPLE - Walker Career Center is a CTE School! Family and Consumer Sciences Business Engineering

Dual-credit Earn high school credit and college credit for taking ONE class at high school. Example - Education Professions students take a class at WCC and earn credits towards their High School Diploma and also earn Ivy Tech college credits
