#AllIn4CLC @UnitedWayLnC Research Findings and Learnings 4 cities: Boston, Columbus, Los Angeles, Phoenix“60 is the new 40”Retirement planning starts ~5 years before the actual date of retirementProspective retirees envision their retirement as active and intellectually stimulating“Graduating” vs. “Stopping” or “Resting”Want to leverage their talent and skills – not just keep busyOpen and interested in a “community” of retirees, but NOT a “retiree club” or a “senior center”Expectation that connectivity will be digital / social media

#AllIn4CLC @UnitedWayLnC Boston Plans / Programs

#AllIn4CLC @UnitedWayLnC Plans / Programs – Boston United in Retirement A nationwide program that allows retirees to serve their communities through service and mentoring and engage with other like minded individuals regardless of location. Creating a vibrant, active, social-service component to your retirement has never been easier. United in Retirement is a national program of service projects, mentoring opportunities, and social engagement events that can travel with you as you travel. Volunteer in Boston during the summer, mentor a young individual during your winter stay in warmer climates, and enjoy social activities with other like-minded retirees in each location. All facilitated and coordinated through United Way’s network of organizations and partner agencies and accessible on any laptop or mobile device.

#AllIn4CLC @UnitedWayLnC Next Steps – Boston Prototype Development – Complete May 15 -Mock up key components within new UW VolunteerHQ  Speaker series  Volunteer opportunities  Mentoring opportunities User Testing – Complete June 15 Launch – September 15

#AllIn4CLC @UnitedWayLnC Phoenix Plans / Programs

#AllIn4CLC @UnitedWayLnC Plans / Programs – Phoenix World Café Feedback….. Communicating what is already available. Creating forums to better understand the issues and what volunteer opportunities are available. Retirees want to drive what their commitment is i.e. episodic, based on number of months spent in the Valley (snow birds), finite times frames for specific projects and more. Using Retirees as speakers bureau representatives getting the word out as conduits of knowledge transfer Underlying and pervasive theme of frustration with the Education system and not now what to do to make a difference Value in using social media and technology – fastest growing group to be kept informed
