2 Journey Map 2 Employer interested in taking on an apprentice contacts Business Support Service Conversation to agree employer needs and refer to Training Provider Employer and Training Provider agree advert and post on Find an Apprenticeship (FAA) Candidates registered on FAA apply. Employer recruits and apprenticeship starts Candidate interested in becoming an apprentice registers on FAA Candidate can set alerts and search for relevant vacancies. Candidate applies for advertised vacancy, successful at interview and starts apprenticeship Unsuccessful candidates contacted and offered on-going individual support by Enhanced Support Team Employer Candidate

3 Business Support Service - Background 3 The team is staffed by a specialist team of apprenticeship advisers who support employers who are interested in recruiting an apprentice. Gateway for all sized employers to take on an apprentice Service running for 4 years Team of 20 Advisers Background in employer support and customer service. Work on a geographical basis

4 Customisation The Greater London Authority (GLA) Paid for additional outbound telemarketing Letter from Mayor/ London underground posters Additional £1,500 ESF Grant (on top of £1,500 AGE Grant) Targeted to create 500 apprenticeships Reporting Lancashire Apprenticeship Hub ESF project commissioned by the Lancashire LEP Aim Funded mentoring qualification for employees responsible as mentor for new app/trainee. Business Support Team role 4

5 Performance (April 15 – March 16) 5 The team handled 26,137 employer leads 56% of those employers were referred to a training organisation Created 10,586 apprentice starts (41% of all employer leads)
