GRAPHIC DESIGN the art of visual communication that combines images, words, and ideas to convey information to an audience, especially to produce a specific effect.

Shape: A shape is a self contained defined area of geometric or organic form. DESIGN ELEMENTS

Space: the area deep within the moment of designated design, the design will take place on. For a two-dimensional design, space concerns creating the illusion of a third dimension on a flat surface DESIGN ELEMENTS

Texture: the way a surface feels or is perceived to feel. DESIGN ELEMENTS

Form: may be described as any three-dimensional object. Form can be measured, from top to bottom (height), side to side (width), and from back to front (depth). DESIGN ELEMENTS

Unity/Harmony: all elements are in agreement, a design is considered unified. DESIGN PRINCIPLES

Balance: Making the two sides of the canvas of your design is balanced. Types: Asymmetrical Symmetrical Radial DESIGN PRINCIPLES

Emphasis: Dominance is created by contrasting size, positioning, color, style, or shape. The focal point should dominate the design with scale and contrast without sacrificing the unity of the whole. DESIGN PRINCIPLES

Contrast: The important elements should standout from the design thru contrast between two objects thru colors, tones and values. DESIGN PRINCIPLES

Rhythm: Rhythm in design is also called repetition. Rhythm allows your designs to develop an internal consistency that makes it easier for your customers to understand. Once the brain recognizes the pattern in the rhythm it can relax and understand the whole design. DESIGN PRINCIPLES

Pattern: is a combination of elements or shapes repeated in a recurring and regular arrangement. DESIGN PRINCIPLES

Proportion: Using the relative size of elements against each other can attract attention to a focal point. When elements are designed larger than life, scale is being used to show drama DESIGN PRINCIPLES
