Definitions of Apprenticeships – What’s in a name? Qualification Framework, nationally recognised & approved by relevant SSC ( eg Cogent, SFH, Semta) Programme that attracts national Funding via SFA Mixture of work based training and education for any age Different levels depending on requirements of job role

Apprenticeship Levels Intermediate ( L2/GCSE) Advanced (L3/ A level) Higher (L4/5 HNC/ HND/ FD) Level of apprenticeship undertaken depends on the job role

Who are Apprenticeships for? Anyone any age – can offer a career progression route Support staff in agenda for change bands 1 -4 Current and new staff – must be employed Best suited to : People who prefer to learn ‘on the job’ and by ‘doing’ rather than by an academic route ( eg diplomas, ‘A’ levels) People who have enthusiasm, drive and motivation NB Some eligibility criteria for LSC Funding & main target 16 -18
