6 6 IEEE Computer Society Survey Results Common elements Hold meetings (at least by teleconference) Communicate with their membership Everyone attends SAB meetings (even those who did not respond to the survey) Provide a forum for discussion of technical topics Almost all have new initiatives Web sites are regularly updated Almost all have liaison with both IEEE and non-IEEE organizations Most participate in conferences (need to expand the survey to ask about the mechanism for getting accepted) Few additional concerns

9 9 IEEE Computer Society Future Activities Develop a Vitality measurement program Set goals (1 st QTR) for different customers (include Deb’s desire for increased diversity) Select measures and definitions (2 nd QTR) Design a reporting mechanism and start collecting metrics (3 rd QTR) Report results (4 th QTR) Establish liaison across practitioner certification organizations Coordinate with John Harauz, our liaison with the IEEE-CS Professional Practices Committee (1 st QTR); baseline their interests vs. our survey results Identify relevant, qualified (ISO/IEC 17024) certifications (2 nd QTR) Identify common needs; e.g., a standard glossary of terms (3 rd QTR) Develop a plan for how the SAB can support the common needs (4 th QTR). Develop a plan for how to expand it for product standard (vs. process standard) sponsors
