1 Corporate, Real Estate, and IP Attorneys in Demand at Los Angeles Law Firms BCG Attorney Search recruiters have found that demand is increasing for real estate attorneys. IP attorneys with a tech background are also in high demand. Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 11, 2013 The Los Angeles market for corporate, real estate, and intellectual property attorneys is incredibly strong right now, say BCG Attorney Search recruiters Lynn Langley and Liz Hudson. While attorneys practicing intellectual property litigation and prosecution have been consistently in demand, the current need for transactional and corporate attorneys is relatively recent, and indicative of a recovering economy. BCG Attorney Search is the leading specialist in placing attorneys at law firms across the country. 2 “Things really seem to be picking up in the corporate world right now,” says recruiter Liz Hudson. “Attorneys with corporate and transactional experience are very hot right now. Mergers and acquisitions is a particular area in which we are seeing a lot of demand for qualified candidates. When the economy tanked a few years ago, a lot of firms reduced the size of their corporate staffs. Now that we’re seeing some recovery, these firms are trying to fill in the gaps and play catch-up.” According to BCG recruiter Lynn Langley, firms are also eager to re-staff real estate departments which had previously been reduced during the financial slowdown. “Things are definitely turning around in the real estate industry. In my own neighborhood, I’m seeing a lot of construction, and firms need attorneys with real estate experience to work on these new deals.” Both recruiters agree that, as the economy continues to recover, more money is being invested into purchases, mergers, acquisitions, and developments, which necessitates larger corporate, transactional, and real estate staffs to handle the increase in business. Additionally, intellectual property attorneys have continued to remain in demand across the country, regardless of the economic climate. In Los Angeles, Langley and Hudson find that IP litigators and prosecutors with backgrounds in electrical engineering.

3 http://www.bcgsearch.com/ “While IP law is always a strong area, we’re seeing a real demand for any attorney with electrical engineering experience,” says Langley. “Los Angeles has a strong technology industry, and this leads to a lot of patent work and companies suing each other over patents. We’re living in an age of technology, so I don’t think the strong demand we’re seeing will be fading any time soon.” “When we have IP candidates with a background in electrical engineering or computer science, firms are contacting us to get in touch with them,” says Hudson. “As little as a decade ago, the attorneys working in IP didn’t have technology degrees, they were just learning as they practiced. Today, that is changing, as engineers are going back to law school. We’re seeing an element of firms trying to keep up with each other by hiring the most qualified IP attorneys.” So what does Los Angeles’ demand for corporate, real estate, and intellectual property attorneys mean? Attorneys with experience in these areas, who come from top law firms and, before that, top law schools, should contact BCG Attorney Search and Lynn Langley or Liz Hudson. “There are a lot of good opportunities for these types of attorneys in Southern California right now,” says Langley.

4 http://www.bcgsearch.com/ She also indicated that now is an excellent time for out-of-state attorneys to consider a move to California. “Honestly, right now, a lot of firms are looking for IP attorneys to relocate to Los Angeles, and may be willing to hire candidates who have not yet passed the California bar, or who aren’t licensed in California. It’s a great opportunity for an attorney with that type of background who is looking to move to sunny Southern California!” About BCG Attorney Search: BCG Attorney Search is a premier recruiting firm for experienced attorneys in the United States.
