Creation of Fire – use for protection and safety of the early tribes, made food safer for them to eat Agricultural (Neolithic) Revolution – provide more food for more people, people started to live in towns, allowed for job specialization, irrigation allowed for more food to be grown and safer drinking water, gender roles, Domestication of Animals – helped with the process of agricultural stuff, helped with transportation Migration – find new areas of settlement, allowed for the discovery of new plants and animals, increase in conflicts between ppls, Origins of trade – brought new cultures together Ice Age – allowed for travel over to the Americas Stone Tools – made work easier Development of written language – allowed for history to be recorded so yall can learn it, better communication between groups of ppl

7 What is a difference between the states formed by the First Civilizations and the Empires formed between 600 BCE – 600 CE? First Civs  more separation between them, Empires begin to join areas together Social structures create a clear distinction in the Empires Empires had a larger access to trade networks First set of laws and religion to control people in the Empires Divine Right (mandate of heaven) used to control people Complex government systems in the Empires  centralized government ruling over the lands First Civs were collection of social groups, Empires had actual defined borders First Civs – military used for self preservation, Empire – military used to take more land

(ERA II) Certain religion/philosophy that each one follows Artistic aspects (art, architecture, pottery, etc.) Centralized government Conquered land Built around a source of water Social Structure (example: caste system) Use of law/religion to control the population Writing system Agricultural systems Access to natural resources Participation in trade routes Some form of slaves Military force
