The development underwent an energy upgrade in late 2013, consisting of external wall insulation, efficient double glazed windows, and a heating control upgrade enabling thermostatic control for each unit. The building was constructed circa 1978 for Dublin City Council, and consists of 32 no. 1-bed apartments and a day care centre.

15. Energy Conservation Methods (ECM) ECM 1 – Fabric Upgrade The ECM consisted of upgrading the fabric of the building by installing external wall insulation (120mm mineral wool), improving the u-value of the external walls to 0.27 W/m2K. The existing windows were replaced with high efficient double glazed uPVC-framed window units with a u-value of circa 1.4 W/m2K. ECM 2 – Heating control upgrade Heating controls were added to the existing central heating system. Each apartment unit was zoned allowing it to be individually thermostatically controlled by means of a room thermostat. The heating circuit in the roof slab was also disconnected, resulting in both storeys of the building being heated by the pipes in the floor slabs only.

(approximately 13,000 units)  Funding required to complete Phase 2 - approximately €130M
