8 Self Employed StandardSplit PaymentSelf Employed Reconciliation Beneficiary is self-employed if: o No tax withholdings from regular wages o Pays Social Security/Medicare Self-Employment taxes o Sole owner of business or trade o Independent contractors Social Security will verify all Self-Employment Income (SEI) 8

9 Self Employed II StandardSplit PaymentSelf EmployedReconciliation Rules Beneficiary needs to be partnered with a service provider Self-employed beneficiaries cannot receive Ticket compensation Payment requests must be submitted as Certification Payment Requests and require a repayment agreement 9

10 Self Employed III Phases and Outcome requests – SEI form not necessary o All information must be submitted Submit either SEI form or annotate SEI on the payment request form One month of earnings required 10 StandardSplit PaymentSelf Employed Reconciliation

13 Reconciliation II Rules Only eligible Milestones After 12th outcome payment. 14 Progress Check 3 Social Security will automatically identify a reconciliation payment for an eligible EN when: A.The Ticket Holder quickly moves to suspended pay status skipping over an EN’s available Phase 1 or Phase 2 milestone payments. B. An EN is entitled to a reconciliation payment under the Outcome payment system. C.The EN has received 12 outcome payments and available Phase 1 and Phase 2 payments have been skipped because the Ticket Holder quickly moved to a suspended pay status due to work and earnings. 14
