Entering the Classroom Enter the room quietly Get any materials you may need before the bell rings Begin the Warm-up or notes as soon as you sit down

If the teacher is late to class… Please do not go into the classroom until I have signaled or opened the door myself DO NOT draw attention to yourselves---other teachers should NEVER have to ask you to be quiet Wait silently until I arrive

When you are tardy… Enter the room quietly if you have a pass…do not draw attention to yourself You must have a pass to be excused Warm-up activities can not be made up and those points will be lost!

During announcements… Everyone should be silent during morning announcements. Any questions will be answered after announcements have been completed. Everyone is expected to stand respectfully during the Pledge of Allegiance. You should not wear a hat during the Pledge of Allegiance. If you are walking during the Pledge of Allegiance, you should stop until it is completed.

Necessary supplies… You will need to bring the following materials to class each day: Pencils with erasers (it is wise to always have 2) Pens (blue or black ink only for assignments) Highlighters (for note-taking) Paper (college-ruled is preferred) Notebook (organized by agenda) Any homework or assignments needed for class

When you need supplies… You are responsible for bringing your materials to class each day. If you have forgotten, lost, broken, or used up your materials, you should do the following: Get paper and/or pencils from the student area before the bell rings. Come to me to purchase supplies during passing period

Sharpening your pencil… You must ask permission to use the pencil sharpener during class Raise the pencil in the air and await my indication that you may leave your seat DO NOT DISRUPT THE ENTIRE CLASS

Exchanging and grading papers… Follow all directions as I give them for grading papers in class Write your full name (first and last) at the bottom of each paper you grade Only grade papers in ink Be accurate---if you make mistakes, I will deduct points from you!

Turning in homework… All assignments should contain the following: Full name, date, and period in the upper right hand corner (unless instructed otherwise) A title on the title line Assignments will only be accepted late for EXCUSED absences!

End of Period Dismissal… You need to wait until I dismiss you to get out of your seat. I will not dismiss students until I see the following: Students sitting silently Books placed neatly on desks or on bookshelves Desks correctly aligned Trash or debris removed from the floor

When you are absent… It is your responsibility to: Get notes or assignments you missed Turn in any assignments that were due the day you were absent Ensure your absence has been cleared with the office

When the phone rings… Use your manners---observe absolute silence until I am off the phone. Listen for further instructions from me. If you should for any reason be asked to answer the phone, the only appropriate way to do so is, “Mrs. Bohn’s room. Student speaking. How may I help you?”

Visitors in the classroom… Guests should be shown the utmost respect at all times Guests may be there to observe your work and behavior. Inappropriate or ill-mannered behavior reflects poorly on us all! Never interrupt while I am speaking to a guest in our room. Be prepared to answer questions about our class

Going to the office… You are not allowed to go to the office during class time unless it is an emergency. I will give you a pass to the nurse Take care of any business you need to take care of in the office on your time (before/after school or lunch)

Fire and/or Disaster Drills… Line up in front of the door Walk through the double lanes in the parking lot— NOT BETWEEN CARS! Stand in a single-file line, SILENTLY Wait for release by administrators Return to class in the same format EARTHQUAKE DRILLS: Put your head under your desk, hands behind your head, until the “all clear”. Proceed out of the building.

What every Upper Classman should know… Your LAST NAME is your identifier. When asked your name, please provide both first and last name. You must wear your Student ID. It is for your safety. You are closer to adulthood than childhood. Juvenile silliness is not respected.

Anything else? If you have a concern, always feel free to talk to me about it. I am never… Angry to the point of violence Unforgiving to the point of anger So shocked I could keel over in front of you In other words, the door’s always open
