Class Officer Responsibilities Schedule class meetings (monthly) Create agenda for all class meetings Run class meetings Communicate with class officers Report to class advisor Camp and conference recommendations Report minutes to student body president Attend School Improvement Council meetings monthly

Class Officer Responsibilities Serve on Judicial Committee Fulfill rolls of class president as needed Communicates all meetings and events to class senators Organizes sign-ups for events Camp and conference recommendations

Class Officer Responsibilities SECRETARY Record minutes and reports to class president Record attendance for class meetings and student body meetings Report to student body secretary TREASURER Budget (excel doc with expenditures and income from events) Budget planning for class-level events Request money to student body treasurer Report to student body treasurer

Student Body President RESPONSIBILITIES Select dates for body meetings. Run officer and student body meetings—monthly Seek approval of principal (with advisor) for events Appoint Committees Communicate with student body officers 2nd recommendation to advisors for camp/conferences Attend School Improvement Council meetings monthly REQUIREMENTS Must have served one year on Executive Council Must be rising junior or senior (current sophomore or junior)

Student Body Vice President RESPONSIBILITIES Chairperson of Judiciary Committee Communicate with class presidents 2nd recommendation to advisors for camp/conferences REQUIREMENTS Must have served one year on Executive Council Must be rising junior or senior (current sophomore or junior)

Student Body Secretary RESPONSIBILITIES Serve on Judiciary committee Record minutes for officer and student body meetings to report to SB president—monthly Manage all attendance (master copy) Report all attendance issues to SB VP and advisors REQUIREMENTS Rising sophomore or junior (current freshman or sophomore)

Student Body Treasurer RESPONSIBILITIES Manage all SG funds (master budget with account balances) Request money for non- class events Manage class money requests and forward to advisor for approval REQUIREMENTS Rising sophomore or junior (current freshman or sophomore)

Senator RESPONSIBILITIES 2 meetings per month (class and student body) 2 absences allowed More than 2 absence will result in judicial review Serve on committees as appointed REQUIREMENTS This is a NON-elected position Meet and maintain 2.0 minimum GPA Submit letter of intent No behavioral issues resulting in ISS or OSS

Attendance You must be able to commit to fulfilling your duty if you run for office. You will be up for removal if you do not do so. Body meetings are required, only medical absences are excused Class meetings are selected by your class and should be set for a time that you are able to attend. Two unexcused absences will result in a Judicial review. All athletes have been excused for one body meeting, once a month per Coach Cann and Mr. Tobin. If you choose to miss that meeting, it will not be excused unless it is a medical absence.

New Changes We will be moving to a point system in 2016-2017. This will allow you to make up the points you miss for class meetings. You will not be able to make up the points missed for body meetings. If you do not meet the minimum point requirement, you will be removed and will have the opportunity to appeal through a judicial review. Graduation Speakers The TLH faculty will be deciding on the top 4 STUCO members to speak at graduation. Graduation Cords Current freshmen and sophomores will be required to have participated in STUCO for all four years to receive a cord. Current juniors will be required to have participated in STUCO for three years to receive a cord. Senior Scholarship This scholarship is a 1 time award of $500. This is now an application process through guidance. Camp Scholarship We will send one student who attends Rally and State to camp for free each year! If there are no students at Hanna that will attend, we will sponsor a middle school student to go.

Timeline: Interest Meetings: Wednesday April 13th at 7:30 a.m. and 3:40 p.m. in room 807. Those interested need only attend one of the two meetings. Any student interested in running for office or joining student government MUST attend one of these meetings to be eligible. Application-to-Run and Recommendations: Wednesday, April 20th by 3:45 p.m. to Ms. Buddin (room 804—math hall), Mrs. Ihme (room 807—math hall) or Ms. Stalvey (room 508—Freshmen Academy). Campaigning: Monday, April 25th through Wednesday May 11th. Elections: Wednesday, May 11th Runoff: If needed, runoffs will occur Thursday, May 12th.

Campaign Speeches Approved 9 th Grade Candidates Monday May 2 nd Approved 10 th grade Candidates Tuesday, May 3 rd Approved 11 th Grade Candidates Wednesday, May 4 th Campaign Speeches will be videoed in Coach White’s room anytime between 2 nd and 4 th block. It is your responsibility to go have your campaign speech recorded. Speeches will air, May 6 th, 9 th and 10 th.
