3. Roald Dahl

4. Roald Dahl was born in Cardiff, Wales

5. He was born on 13 th September 1916 This is now called Roald Dahl Day, poeple have Roald Dahl parties

6. His Mum and Dad came from Norway He loved hearing stories his mum made up about trolls and other strange creatures

7. When he was at school he put a mouse in a jar of sweets. He got into big trouble !

8. When he was 23 he joined the RAF He became a fighter pilot in the second world war

9. He was injured during the war, he started to write stories after that His first story was “The Gremlins”

10. He became a VERY famous author He wrote 17 books for children (and some for grown-ups too)

11. Some of his characters are very good, and some are very bad Miss Honey Miss Trunchbull

12. His stories are usually very funny...like when The Eejits got stuck upside down !

13. Quentin Blake drew the illustrations for Roald Dahl’s books

14. He made up lots of funny words ! swizzfiggling whoopsy splunker Snozzcumbers

16. He liked to write in a hut at the bottom of his garden He had a special chair with a board on it

19. We wanted to read another Roald Dahl story But this time it was in Scots ! We read “The Eejits” (in English it is “The Twits”)
