The mission of the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District is to develop productive, responsible citizens who are prepared to be successful in a dynamic world. USING EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTION TO ENSURE THAT ALL STUDENTS LEARN SEAN DUSEK, ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT Responsibilities Leads, evaluates, and manages instructional departments Supervise District-wide student discipline and attendance Develops district-wide calendar Facilitates process and professional development for effective instruction and leadership Carry out responsibilities as assigned by the superintendent 2012-2013 Increase graduation rate/decrease dropout rate Facilitate implementation of effective instruction across the District in every classroom Facilitate the implementation of effective leadership across the District Implement effective collaborative practices across the District

USING EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTION TO ENSURE THAT ALL STUDENTS LEARN LAURIE OLSON, FINANCE DIRECTOR 2012-2013 Educate Evaluate and update District budgeting process Support enrollment projection Update health care reporting Finance Committee support Providing support to schools with budgeting and accounting for pupil activity funds Responsibilities Supervise and oversee payroll, accounts payable, grant reporting, fixed assets and Medicaid reimbursement activities Development of annual budget and creation of budget documents Coordinate annual financial audit and creation of financial reports Provide support and assistance to schools and departments on financial matters

USING EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTION TO ENSURE THAT ALL STUDENTS LEARN JOHN O’BRIEN, SECONDARY EDUCATION/STUDENT ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR 2012-2013 Improve principal access to training and skills to drive personal development for students, teachers, and their own leadership Expand opportunities for students to be successful throughout high school and beyond Responsibilities Support secondary administrators in building their capacity as instructional leaders for their buildings. Support secondary administrators in meeting the district goals of improving effective instruction and collaborative practices Support the implementation of programs that will reduce drop out rate and increase graduation rate: distance learning, intervention, Tech Prep, Work Force Development Oversee district wide student activities and KPSAA Develop, implement, and manage programs

USING EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTION TO ENSURE THAT ALL STUDENTS LEARN TIM VLASAK, K-12 SCHOOLS, ASSESSMENT & FEDERAL PROGRAMS DIRECTOR 2012-2013 Assist K-12 schools in becoming World Class schools Work as a member of the Instructional Team to increase student success throughout the District by providing support for Effective Instruction Responsibilities Provide administrative support for KPBSD K-12 schools Coordinate all district assessments, provide data analysis, state reporting and Test Coordinator oversight Administer KPBSD federal supplemental programs: ELL Education, Title I, Students in Transition, Migrant Education, Indian Education, Project GRAD and Performance Based Education Oversee state and federal grants, including all Title funding, McKinney-Vento, GEAR UP, Youth in Detention, and competitive grant application approval

USING EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTION TO ENSURE THAT ALL STUDENTS LEARN DORIS CANNON, ELEMENTARY EDUCATION DIRECTOR 2012-2013 Educate Implement new K-12 Language Arts Curriculum Implement K-12 Common Quarterly Writing Assessments Complete the K-12 Math Curriculum revision process Begin two-year curriculum revision process with K-12 Science and Social Studies Curricula Implement district professional development opportunities Responsibilities Elementary Education Issues: Parent concerns, acceleration and retention, early entrance, interventions, policy interpretation, principal and teacher support Curriculum: Curricular revision, selection of new curriculum and resource materials, implementation of revised curricula Professional Development: All content areas, grade levels, district initiatives

USING EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTION TO ENSURE THAT ALL STUDENTS LEARN CLAYTON HOLLAND, PUPIL SERVICES DIRECTOR Responsibilities Special education programming, Special education compliance, Staffing/Budget Section 504 accommodations plans for students Gifted Education: Supervise facilitators, review budgets, parent/student concerns Health Services: Maintain compliance of regulations, nursing staff, care of medically fragile children Facilitate district-wide FASD training and consultation Partner with parents and community members to provide meaningful disability related training opportunities for our communities 2012-2013 Continue staff development and program opportunities concerning Autism Spectrum Disorders and low incidence disabilities Retention and recruitment of talented special educators and specialists IDEA compliance monitoring and quality processes Collaborate with general education intervention teams on Response to Intervention (RTI) process Facilitate collaboration with all department stakeholders Facilitate increased collaborative efforts for all pupil services department stakeholders Increase effective instruction and practices for all related service providers, specialists, and special education teachers through the use of the new evaluation system Collaborate with general education partners on the implementation of school-wide Positive Behavior Intervention Supports Provide professional development for special education teachers and paraprofessionals

USING EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTION TO ENSURE THAT ALL STUDENTS LEARN PEGGE ERKENEFF, COMMUNICATIONS 2012-2013 Assist district leadership team and school board with employee and district-wide communications Communicate five-year strategic plan to schools, families, and public Track legislative action for school board and administration Develop crisis communication plan Produce informative web highlight stories, and KPBSD Photo of the Day Responsibilities Internal Communications: Assist the superintendent, administration, and school board with communications to employees and school sites. Document school and district activities through stories and photography Public Relations: Research, write, edit, or produce publications such as the annual report, district print media, web highlight stories, and all district social media. Represent the school district to build mutually beneficial relationships between the district and public. Media Communications: Media and public point of contact for all district press releases, school stories, and crisis communication.
