Q.A family sells their house more quickly than expected and move in with grandparents until their new house is ready. Are they homeless? A.I would say “No” because it is not based on being evicted (hardship) due to loss of housing or economic hardship. Q.A family is forced to move in with grandparents because the family’s rental house was sold by the landlord. Is this family homeless? A.Yes, the family lost their housing and had to move in with grandparents until they could locate another low income housing unit.

What is transition? Title I requires schools to develop a transition plan for preschool students entering kindergarten. What are the artifacts associated with transition? 1.Transition plan 2.Narrative in last/current year’s consolidated application 3.Flyers/agendas/invitations/handouts/communications to parents related to events and activities associated with transition 4.Flyers/agendas/invitations/handouts related to teacher involvement in the transition plans and events 5.Don’t forget the sign in sheets! What you will need for your application –The number of students who attend nonpublic schools No names, just addresses and grade levels The poverty level designation for those students and the measurement tool used (free/reduced lunch, tuition subsidy levels, other) –The list of schools your students attend –The date you met with the nonpublic schools to discuss next year’s program (aka meaningful consultation) –The program design for 2012-13. Open this year’s application. Copy and paste your narrative into a word document. Revise, update, rewrite and save the narrative. Meet with your business office and administrative team to develop a budget. When the final numbers are released, make revisions to program/budget as needed. Getting it done

Your consolidated plan must reflect your comprehensive plan aka schoolwide plan Sections of the egrants application affect other areas; be sure everything is aligned Reservations of funds page must be connected to your budget page Comparability changed….meet with your business office; it is now a per pupil expenditure formula Your school building eligibility must be entered correctly on the Selection of Schools page Pay attention……

The Schoolwide Plan MUST be reviewed every year Nonpub expenditures on the budget page: –1500 = Instruction for nonpublic and summer –3300 = Parent Involvement for public and nonpublic –2270 = Professional Development for public and nonpublic –2280 = Administrative fees associated with nonpubs If you are closing a school before next school year, contact your regional coordinator Be sure to have more than one user administrator in your egrants system there’s more…….

If you are in School Improvement 1 or 2, be prepared to set aside 10% of the allocation for professional development. Does not apply if you are in Corrective Action. Pay attention to the number of minutes for targeted Title I students’ interventions in the egrant application Your budget and your narrative must match You must apply for the entire allocation …and more
