TEACHERS’ PAY Main pay scale – 6 points Points once applied remain with the teacher NQTs usually start on M1 – relevant body has discretion to go higher - Pay Policy Teachers go up one point having completed a year’s service –paragraph 1.8 NQTs – can go up even if Induction not complete Rules around returning teachers in the STPCD

Upper payscale 3 points To go up to UPS1 teacher must be on M6 and must apply to Head teacher – now based on last two appraisals Minimum 2 years on each point to go up the scale UPS1 to 2 and 2 to 3 NO application Teachers can appeal

Leadership pay 43 point scale – applies to Heads, Deputy Heads and Assistant Heads ISR = Head’s 7 point range – depends on group size – can be reviewed Deputy – 5 point range - max at least one point below minimum of the ISR Assistant Head 5 point range – max at least one point lower than Deputy Head max Highest paid classroom teacher – para 12.3.2

Other teachers ASTs –own scale 5 points Excellent teachers – spot salary Unqualified teachers – 6 point scale - assimilated Sep 09 from 10 point scale – point stays with Unqualified teacher GTPs – can be paid on qualified or unqualified scale

Additional Payments CPD outside the school day Activities relating to provision of ITT Out of school learning activity – The one applicable to One to one tuition outside the school day For Headteachers and other staff relating to raising of educational standards at additional school/s – NEW in 2009 NONE ARE SET AMOUNTS

TLRs Teaching and Learning responsibility payments TLR 1 the higher level £7,323 - £12,393 TLR 2 the lower level £2,535 - £6,197 Within each level you can have different values, BUT must have at least £1,500 difference

SEN New in 2010 – a range from £2001 to £3954 New criteria TLR more appropriate for SENCOs

ACTING ALLOWANCES Covering a Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher or Assistant Headteacher Deputy Head does not have to Act up if Headteacher leaves, but does if the Headteacher is absent Acting Head – pay must be at least the minimum of the ISR

Recruitment and Retention Allowances Recruitment for a max of 3 years – cannot be renewed Retention - 3 years, but can be extended in exceptional circumstances No set amounts One –off or paid monthly Pensionable Headteachers eligible

Part-time pay for Teachers TIMETABLED TEACHING WEEK- unique to your school Have you reviewed your part-time teachers’ pay? Supply teachers – does not apply – old WBC guidance still valid
