Learning outcome: On completion of the Legal Attachment, students must be able to: Apply the legal principles learned pedagogically in practical legal situations; Demonstrate an understanding of the application of laws in related practical areas; Develop the skills of legal problem solving; Build an understanding of and display professionalism and legal etiquettes. Courses of which credit hours can be counted: Pass with grades A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C; or Pass with PS Courses not taken but credit transfer granted Note: same course taken twice, shall only be counted as one time. Legal Attachment Training Programme
12 week Commencing date: 14 March 2016 Once an offer is accepted: - Withdrawal is not allowed - Subject to the respective firm’s or establishment’s Rules and Regulations - FOL law students are MMU ambassadors in the legal profession 3 monthly reports – submitted to lest 28 September 2015 NAAW, FOL MMU

Placement & Location Duty on students to find a place
legal firms registered under Malaysian Bar Council (www. malaysianbar.org.my) List of firms in FOL websites (to be uploaded) Courts, AG Chambers, police head office (IPK), legal aids centre/ bureau, CAP, JIM, CCM, etc. Not allowed: outside Malaysia close relative’s firm Placement in East Malaysia is only opened to Sabahans and Sarawakians respectively. 28 September 2015 NAAW, FOL MMU

Assessment Scheme: Pass or Fail

DEDUCTIONS OF MARKS 5 marks each to be deducted (including the following issues): when the student obtains more than one firm’s offer and fails to inform the firm whose offer he/she decides to reject; asking for a change of firm after the offer is confirmed; or not adhering to the planned schedule, for examples: … 28 September 2015 NAAW, FOL MMU

LEAVE OF ABSENCE If a student quits this course after its commencement, NOT ALLOWED to register for any course offered in Tri 3, 2015/2016; He/she has to apply for “Leave of Absence” for that trimester, subject to the Dean’s approval; Appeal will be looked into on a case by case basis 28 September 2015 NAAW, FOL MMU

Letter of Indemnity A promise of payment in case of any damage/loss
MMU DOES NOT issue Letter of Indemnity to any firm DO NOT accept any offer for a trainee post that requires a letter of indemnity from MMU You shall ensure that you are insured throughout the training 28 September 2015 NAAW, FOL MMU

Insurance Students are obliged to take out a Personal Accident (PA) insurance to cover you through out your attachment period (12 Weeks) Your insurance policy should be produced as a proof before you can collect your documents. 28 September 2015 NAAW, FOL MMU

Attendance The new MOE (Ministry of Education) policy is that if a student fails to attend the training more than FIVE (5) days, he/she will automatically fail the course. 28 September 2015 NAAW, FOL MMU

Procedure Get ready with your CV, and all relevant certificates, transcript during trimester break Refer to the Instructions Guide for Application (& templates) which will be uploaded in the FOL website during Tri 1 trimester break: [icon Downloads] Application to AGC, courts, government agencies shall be done through the Faculty, thus you do not need to make enquiry from those establishments.
