Originally disbanded in 2003 by policy formed by Paul Bremer CPA agreed to pay up to 250,000 soldiers $50-$150 a month Reformed after Bremer’s post war administration ended in June 2004 80% of officers and a majority of enlisted men in the new Iraqi military are former members of Hussein’s army Plan to have only 40,000-man by 2006
