NICE Guidance Smoking cessation in secondary care Published November 2013 Considers acute, maternity and mental health services Aims to support smoking cessation, temporary abstinence and smokefree policies A total of 16 recommendations

Key recommendations Strong leadership and management On-site stop smoking service Identification, provision of pharmacotherapy and intensive support Continuity of care from hospital to the community support Trained staff Support of staff to abstain from smoking while at work No designated smoking areas, no staff supervised smoking breaks

Development and production of the toolkit Many different interventions taking place across the south west Varying degrees of success Requests to draw together the lessons learned Meets the recommendations of the NICE Guidance in Secondary Care
