On a clean sheet of notebook paper, put the following: Name Day/Block Writing Day 1 To start, write a paragraph about your break. You must include at least 5 sentences. Think about: What you did? Where did you go? Who did you see?

Write a paragraph about something you learned from your nonfiction book. What are some things you have learned? Are there things you already knew? Your paragraph must be at least 5 sentences.

Transition word or phrase + state blueprint #1 = topic sentence Three details (Magic Three) that explain blueprint. Transition sentence to next paragraph. In addition to ___________, ________________. **This is the same format for all three body paragraphs!!!

Transition word or phrase and restate or reword your thesis statement. Summarize blueprints—you may have one long sentence or three short sentences. Your final thoughts on the subject, strongly worded.

Write a body paragraph for each of your topics you briefly wrote about in your paragraph. By the end of class…you should have 3 paragraphs that have at least 5 sentences in them.

Choose 3 characters from Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry For each character, choose 3 personality traits for them. Write down examples from the book that show that each character has each trait.
