Description Downhill Skiing includes: Alpine Skiing (downhill, slalom, giant slalom, and combined) Freestyle Cross Country Nordic Combined (involves ski jumping and cross country skiing)

History The 1936 Winter Olympic Games in Austria was the first time that Alpine Skiing was introduced It was called the “Combine” Was an event for both men and women

Because of WWII, the Winter Olympics were not held again until 1948 in St. Moritz Since it had been 12 years from the event, Alpine Skiing was a major event, and excited millions of people Since 1936, Alpine Skiing has been in every Winter Olympics

Records Only two people in the history of Alpine Skiing have won all of the events (downhill, slalom, and giant slalom) Toni Sailer was from Austria Jean-Claude Killy was from France
