2 Introduction Brand Guidelines ensure that the visual design elements of the Nothing But Nets campaign are applied correctly in every application in which Nothing But Nets is identified. Published guidelines are essential for providing consistency in a large, diverse partnership such as Nothing But Nets. These guidelines should be followed to give Nothing But Nets a global uniform identity, greater visibility and powerful marketing possibilities. It is important that the standards are strictly followed, especially in regard to the use of the Nothing But Nets logo. The success of maintaining the campaign’s identity depends on the ownership of its goals and values by every partner. 3 The Nothing But Nets Primary Color Palette The Nothing But Nets logo is a two color identity The text is Pantone Hexacrome Orange U from the Pantone Matching System, an internationally recognized standard of matching colored inks used in the printing industry. The net image is 30% Black. The logo can also appear in black. No other exceptions in color usage are allowed.

4 Correct Usage of the Nothing But Nets logo The Nothing But Nets logo has been specially designed as a unit. Consistent application of the logo will reinforce the Nothing But Nets as a brand. Online use Founding Partners The Nothing But Nets logo in color may be used on Web sites, online promotions and joint press releases with the UN Foundation and other partners. Partners The Nothing But Nets logo in color may only be used on Web sites and online promotions by partners, unless the usage is via jointly issued media with one of the Nothing But Nets founding partners. Such joint usage must be developed with prior consent of the creator of Nothing But Nets, the UN Foundation, in writing. A UN Foundation representative will respond to the request within five business days.

5 Correct Usage of the Nothing But Nets logo Online Use Supporters Supporters may use the Nothing But Nets logo on social networking Web sites, such as Facebook and MySpace. They may use Nothing But Nets banners, found at www.NothingButNets.net/downloads on their personal or business Web sites.

6 Correct Usage of logo in promotional products Founding Partners and Partners Partners wishing to use the Nothing But Nets logo for promotional products may do so, as long as it is used in conjunction with the partner logo and tagline specifications are adhered to. Official merchandise, clothing, awards, jewelry and other promotional applications must adhere to the logo specifications. This Includes printed materials (educational brochures, etc.) and video. Such promotional usage must be developed in coordination with the creator of Nothing But Nets, the UN Foundation. Supporters The UN Foundation will field logo requests from Nothing But Nets supporters regarding logo placement on promotional products through info@nothingbutnets.net. Supporters may include the Nothing But Nets logo on promotional products, such as clothing, jewelry, printed materials, etc., if it is made clear that the product is not an official item of the Nothing But Nets campaign. The supporter’s name and/or name of event must be on the product, the same size as or larger than the Nothing But Nets logo, if the logo is to be included. Such use must receive prior approval from the UN Foundation, in writing.

7 Joint Promotions Nothing But Nets partners can work with the UN Foundation to jointly develop online and print communications bearing the Nothing But Nets logo. Joint promotion initiatives require a full review of content and design by Nothing But Nets, c/o UN Foundation. 8 Press Release The Nothing But Nets Press Release template can be used by partners. It should include the Nothing But Nets and partner logo and the boilerplate information referenced in template. The Nothing But Nets logo should appear at the top left of the page. The Nothing But Nets boilerplate must always be included at the bottom of the page, with appropriate links and press contacts for Nothing But Nets and the partner. All press releases must receive final approval from the UN Foundation’s Director of Public Affairs, Katherine Miller, before they can be released to the press. 9 Nothing But Nets Photos Founding partners, partners and supporters are invited to use official campaign photos which include the Nothing But Nets or UN Foundation branding in the bottom corners of the photos. Official photos can be found at www.NothingButNets.net/downloadswww.NothingButNets.net/downloads. Official media requests for photos should be directed to: Nothing But Nets, c/o UN Foundation : Tel: 1-202-887-9040 Email: info@nothingbutnets.net All photos used by journalists or members of the press should be officially branded with the Nothing But Nets logo embedded in the photo’s bottom left-hand corner.

10 Nothing But Nets Videos All founding partners and partners of Nothing But Nets will receive the following Nothing But Nets videos for use on their Web sites and public outreach: 30 second Nothing But Nets PSA 60 second Nothing But Nets PSA 30 second Nothing But Nets PSA w/ large mosquito Additional videos may be made available to Nothing But Nets partners as they are produced. 11 Supporters’ Use of Materials Grassroots supporters are invited, and encouraged, to utilize official Nothing But Nets materials to promote their own events. Initial requests for official banners, photos, PSAs, should be directed to www.NothingButNets.net/downloadswww.NothingButNets.net/downloads. This page is periodically updated with the most recent information, and supporters are invited to use these materials for their own events. 12 Clearance Zone The logo should always have a minimum clearance zone around it of 0.5’’ inches. This ensures clarity of communication and prevents the logo from becoming lost or crowded.

13 Additional Information Style parameters: Use serial commas. When referring to the Web site, the style is: www.NothingButNets.net. On second reference, use UN Foundation not UNF. Avoid using Foundation or foundation to describe the UN Foundation, but if you have to use one, use Foundation. Never use NBN or NbN for Nothing But Nets. Nothing But Nets should always be italicized and the “But” should be capitalized. Unless it’s at the beginning of a sentence, malaria should never be capitalized (AP style). They’re bed nets, not bednets. It’s The People of the United Methodist Church, not the United Methodist Church (when talking about the organization that oversees all the churches) It’s Web site, not web site, website, Website or Web-site (AP style). When referring to the Nothing But Nets campaign, do not capitalize campaign The triad: Each $10 donation goes directly toward the purchase, distribution, and education about the proper use of an insecticide-treated bed net. Never say: We can eradicate malaria. Instead, say: We can prevent malaria or help to reduce malaria deaths. The use of NBA, WNBA or MLS in any materials, promotion or talking points is prohibited without the written permission of the Nothing But Nets Director.
